MTA is hit for rolling with bad contractors, new report reveals

Wednesday, February 3rd 2010, 4:00 AM BY Pete Donohue DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER ?Companies that do shoddy work for the MTA can still find work at the agency, a new report says.??

In an effort to help you avoid unintended consequences, we?ve put together a list of questions to ask perspective flooring contractors. Some of the questions are ?new? because they were skipped over or not even asked a few years ago. Let?s face it, in those days, with so many active projects; just getting someone on a job carried great weight.

NEW Questions to Ask Your Flooring Contractor:

  • Do they have open lines of credit at every major flooring mill and distributor in America?
  • Do they have available bank credit?
  • Do their references, education, trade certifications and experience add up?
  • Are their installers credentialed through programs such as FORBO Master Mechanic & Associate Mechanic Training School?
  • Is the contractor insured and what are the limits?
  • Can they be bonded?
  • Are they WBE and SBE certified?
  • Are their installer?s employees or temps?

If you check out PAR?s credentials, you?ll find we have been around a while because we are backed by over 18 years of experience, degrees in design, and expertise in value engineering that keep project costs in line. Chances are we?ll be around a while longer.

So ask you flooring contractors all of these NEW questions and keep us in mind for your upcoming projects. You have more to gain than you might imagine.

Sincerely,

Karen Rossilli-Kiefer [Karen@Parcorporation.com]
